SMART EDIT offers a so-called "Image-Pool". This is a kind of global area where graphics are stored. The main operating-system and many expansions use this area. So graphics brought to the system by one product can be used by the system and all other products.
There are 4 types of graphics:
- Masks
These are grey images normally used for transition effects (Video SpiceRack, Liquid-Images, ...). Their shape controls how the effect will look like. Of course the masks can also be used as nice backgrounds for your titles.
- Monochromatic
Here you can find monochromatic (grey) images ("textures"). You may add a color of your choice and use them as backgrounds. Because most of these images are very small, the system will draw them side by side to fill the required area.
- Polychromatic
These are small color pattern, which can be used in the same way as the monochromatic textures. Because they already are colorful, you cannot apply a color to them.
- Images
Complex full-size images can be found here. DVD-Arabesk is the first product which adds images of this type to the Image-Pool. Although planned to be a background for your DVD-titles, these images can also be used for other purposes.

Example: You can use all types of graphics as backgrounds for your titles.
